Was finally able to get all three dogs back together-- Samba is on day 20 of here heat cycle and Wallace is not over-excited anymore. Waited until our house guest (Brian's mom, a great visit) left before trying, probably could have had them back together a day or two earlier.

Went to agility at Paw Beach with Samba. She did good for here first time out in a couple of weeks. Last week she was in standing heat and I just had a bad feeling about things, so I didn't go to any classes with her. She has almost got her stopped contacts down. Just need a little more reinforcement of the exact correct position-- need to remember to take the clicker out next time we practice targets. Saw Missy who just returned from Afghanistan the day before. She and Libby ran well.

Confident and Faster Obstacles: Speed Circles

I thought I'd share a simple obstacle setup that you can use to race your dog in to, through and out of any obstacle or obstacle sequence; the Speed Circle.

A day of shuffling dogs around and working on this site. Got all the photos of Sylvie that have been sitting my phone and iPad into a gallery here. Still have lots of processing to do on them, but now I am not afraid I will lose them.

Continued "back" with Samba, who is starting to get it. Practiced "target" on teeter and on stairs. Stairs seem to have a lot of potential. On the teeter she is still stopping with all 4 feet on the teeter unless I lure her into position.

Lola: worked on "target" on the teeter and on the stairs. Trying to change her attitude to the teeter by just doing fun, easy things for a while. Had a really good short teeter session.

Started training "back" with Samba, which is walking backwards. Harder than it sounds. The goal is to getting her baking up onto contacts to hit her two-on-two-off and increase her rear end awareness.

Continued training "target" on the teeter with Samba. Don't think she totally has it nailed down yet. Going to try training it at the bottom of the stairs.

Today is day 10 of Samba's heat cycle. Up through yesterday I thought we might be able to get away with the 3 dogs not being separated this time. Samba went to class and did fine, and she was acting pretty normal around her siblings all day.

But then this morning as I sat down to work, I hear Samba come walking down the hall putting out a series of low growls, followed by a big old goofy Wallace not heeding the growls at all. So right then I put Samba in the bedroom and got ready for a week of separation. She is clearly acting differently then yesterday, and I can tell she is very uncomfortable, poor thing. I guess it is a good thing we withdrew from the Moore County KC agility trial this weekend. That could have been a huge disaster.

Didn't do any training today-- we all need a day to adjust to this new routine.
